About Me

Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I LOVE to travel. It is as simple as that. As a little kid, I remember sitting for hours in our living room looking through each and every one of my dad’s Time-Life book series on different countries and vowing that one day I would see them all. Not much has changed. 

Right out of college I spent many years working in the travel industry, then I decided I needed to settle down once I started having kids. No more taking off to some far off place on a whim. Crazy right? I became a responsible adult. A teacher with a masters degree no less. Honestly, my second career choice really did have to do with my desire to help others, but I wasn’t sad that it still afforded me plenty of time off to travel with my husband and kids. There is nothing like the magic of summer break to a teacher who has been in the trenches for nine months. 

Fast forward and my kids are now ten, seventeen and twenty-two. It goes by quickly my friends. It really does. A few years ago, I took the leap and went back to my first love…travel. I now own a travel agency (yes, I would be happy to help you book that trip to just about anywhere), I do freelance travel writing and I get out there with my family and EXPLORE the world as much as possible. Trust me when I say that if I am not planning a trip for us, I am not fit to live with! That is my wish for you too! Not the part about not being fit to live with, but I hope you get out there with your family no matter how young or old your children are and really experience the world. 

Don’t let people tell you that your kids are too little and won’t remember anything. Don’t let them tell you that you should leave them at home or that it is easier to travel without them. Who are these people anyway?? In short, don’t let the naysayers talk you out of experiencing the world with your kids. It is the best gift you can give them. The gift of your time. The gift of experience. The gift of travel. THIS is what your kids will remember. Now get out there! 

A bit of actual info about me:

Born in Coral Gables, south of Miami. I grew up in paradise on the small island of Marathon in the Florida Keys. I now call the Tampa Bay area home and have for many years. 

I still have so many places on my bucket list, but I have managed to visit a heap of places. After this summer’s three week road trip, I have only two states left to go (Hawaii and Oregon) before I hit all fifty. Hawaii- I know, right? Can’t believe I haven’t been there! As a side note my husband and kids have only a few states left themselves. I have happily explored  a great deal of Canada, trekked across Mexico more times than I can count, gone to school for a while in Italy and see quite a bit of Europe, South America and the Caribbean.  So many more places left to go….

My favorite places in the world- My second home…Maine, Ireland where both sides of my family are originally from and Nova Scotia. Strangely living in the Florida heat has turned our entire family into winter loving snow chasers. If the temperatures are cooler, we want to be there! 

Bucket list. We all have one, right? It is hard to narrow down, but here are my top ten in no particular order. Well, not true. Iceland really is at the TOP of the list. Iceland, Greenland (yes you heard me correctly), Cuba, Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, Bali, Costa Rica, Russia and Norway. We really need to get busy. I am so glad you are here to help us explore the world!
